A Letter for Believers Living in the Unknown
But, as it is written, “What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love him”— (1 Corinthians 2:9)
Dear precious child of God,
You are so dearly loved. I know the times are uncertain, that things haven’t turned out how you expected. The world is in chaos. There is division, sickness, and information overload. You may be hesitant to even look into the future, for the road seems so unknown. The dreams you once had may bring sadness to your heart, for it’s hard sometimes to see what even the day holds for you.
But rest in this, He has a plan for you.
You have everything you need right now. The Lord is the Good Shepherd, and He is taking good care of you (Psalm 23:1). Even when you cannot see it, God is near to you; He has not let you out of His sight (Psalm 139:7-10)
He can lead you into green pastures, to walk beside still waters of true peace (Psalm 23:2). Be open to His presence, and He will guide you.
Beloved, you are precious and honored in the sight of God. He proclaimed this over the Israelites, but you are also His treasured possession (Isaiah 43:4). You are incredibly valuable in His sight.
You are not alone. That is a lie from the enemy. For it keeps you from resting in the love and protection of our Heavenly Father, causing you to seek approval elsewhere.
The enemy would love to keep you in discouragement. To have you worry in pride over things you cannot control, which are the Lord’s responsibility to handle. The enemy seeks to steal, kill and destroy (John 10:10). To take away our joy would be a prime objective, for within the joy of the Lord lies our strength (Nehemiah 8:10).
He has a beautiful plan for your life, even if you can’t see it right now. Don’t listen to anything that tells you otherwise, for they are lies. He has led you this far, sustained you in every season, and eagerly welcomes your return to His restful love.
Rather than resenting the changes, and the unexpected twists and turns on the road of life, maybe He’s calling you to look elsewhere. In the season when things look different, pray to see the new thing God is doing in the world, our lives, and in those we dearly love. For He wrote:
“Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert” (Isaiah 43: 14-15.
These were, again, the words given to the Israelites living in Babylon. However, is God not doing a new thing here? What changes have occurred for us in the past year, in our world, and in our lives?
Is this His way of leading us towards something new?
So don’t stop believing in the future He has for you or the goodness He plans to reveal to you. There will be hard times, of course. But there will be beauty too.
And don’t miss out on the present, or the wonder that is surronds you.
See, our Father makes all things beautiful in His time (Ecc. 3:11). Including our hearts.
And the wait makes the blessings all the sweeter.
So what do we do in the waiting?
Continue to rest in the knowledge that He has already pursued you. You are His, dear one.
Do you long to be pursued? To be loved, to have someone who sees your worth, and longs to be near you? So does God, even though He is our Maker. And this He promises us; if we seek Him with all our heart, we will find Him, the one whom I soul longs for (Jeremiah 29: 13-14). That was His words to the Israelites, the chosen people, when they were going into exile. But that is a promise for us as well. That is the Father’s heart for us.
You are as close to God as you want to be. He has found you, but you are gifted with the responsibility to seek Him as well. To do your part in the maintenance of the relationship. So continue to pursue Him, beloved child.
Don’t allow discouragement to enter your soul.
We fulfill the purpose of our lives when we pray, seek after God, learn, grow and worship. To tell others about Him and take delight in the life of abundance we have been called to.
Keep on dreaming about the future while not losing the beautiful view of the present.
Wherever the future will bring us, God will lead us through. He need not be afraid (Psalm 23:4). Goodness and mercy will continue to follow us every day of our lives, and one day, we shall dwell in heaven forever. While we live upon the earth, we can be grateful for the blessings He gives us while we live here on the earth. All the while, I pray you keep your gaze on “what is unseen” or what is eternal (2 Cor. 4:18).
If we are in a relationship with Jesus, we will be in the arms of the Father. He will wipe away every tear from our eyes, and we will enjoy His presence there in worship (Rev. 21:4).
And at last, we will be home.
So get up, child, for you are too dearly loved to stay down for long.
Find strength, that you may lead others to encounter His love (Isa. 35:3-4).
You still have a life to live, a precious gift that was bought with an incredible price: The cross.
The Lord has set eternity in our hearts so that our longing will draw us back to His arms.
But we still have time upon this earth.
In the meantime, turn to your Father.
For God loves you so.
Blessings,
