There’s a Promise for Those Who Seek God

There’s a Promise for Those Who Seek God

“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you. You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you, declares the Lord, and I will restore your fortunes and gather you from all the nations and all the places where I have driven you, declares the Lord, and I will bring you back to the place from which I sent you into exile.” (Jeremiah 29:11-14)

Dear beloved child,

Why do you run from the One who has sought you from the beginning?

It can become easy for us to turn away from God after we have done something wrong. But has He not promised to love us tenderly and put our broken pieces back together?

Humanity began this act of hiding long ago in the Garden of Eden. We hid from God after the Fall. Adam and Eve enjoyed close fellowship with God in the garden, walking with Him throughout the day.

And yet, when sin came into the world, it changed us. It turned our desire to walk with God into our desire to hide from God when we do something wrong.

But you do not have to respond that way any longer. When you surrendered your life to Jesus, everything changed.

He loves you, precious child of God. And the Lord desires to mend your broken pieces.

He was never looking for perfection. God wants you to be honest, and He wants your heart. You do not have to hide any longer, you can come to your Heavenly Father.

And you can take this beautiful truth to heart.

We serve a God who is not hiding but desires a deep relationship with us. His promise stands firm, if we seek Him, we will find Him.

Do you long to be pursued? To be acknowledged as valuable enough for someone?

The One true God has already gone to the ends of the earth to reveal your immense worth. You were the one lamb that left the ninety-nine, and He came for looking for you (Luke 15:4).

The biblical narrative tells of a people who rebelled against God and pursue their own way of life, desiring to be their own authority. Yet, God has relentlessly pursued the human heart, demonstrating this most profoundly at the cross, in which Jesus Christ gave His life as a payment for our sins. This was love. This was a declaration of your value in the sight of God. We are given an opportunity to follow in obedience the One who loves us. Not because of anything you have done or achieved. Simply because you are His creation.

The promise of the Lord stands true. We are not called to a passive faith but rather are invited to a breathtaking adventure. A beautiful pursuit.

Scripture reads:

“Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you. You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you….” (Jeremiah 29:12-14).

This was written to God’s chosen people, the Israelites, in the format of a prophetic letter sent from Jeremiah. They were living as exiles upon their rebellion during the time of captivity by the Babylonians.

In this, it is evident that the Lord was reinstating His promises not when His people were at their best but after they had defied God. This was the encouragement from their Lord (through the prophet Jeremiah) that even when they had forsaken Him, God remained faithful. He still had a plan for them and urged them to turn around and seek after Him with all of their hearts.

This is the heart of true love. The Father desires that not one of us should go our own way but rather that we would be reconciled to Him through Jesus Christ (2 Pet. 3:9).

We are called to place seeking God as a high priority, not as an afterthought. To pursue Him with everything we are. His arms should be the first place we turn to during difficult circumstances.

The Holy Spirit draws us to Himself, as He is the only one who can awaken our hearts and draw us to repentance. But we also have a personal responsibility to walk in obedience and continually invest in our relationship with the Lord.

This pursuit is not a burden but rather a sacred privilege. A gift that, like any relationship, requires attention, care, and effort to grow and make beautiful.

But what about the times when we don’t feel God, even after we have put in the effort?

Sometimes God might allow us not to feel His presence so that we would grow in faith. I believe God permits us to feel these things to build our sense of passion and self-discipline. In those moments we make a series of decisions: Will I pursue Him with all that I am? Seek Him with all my heart? Is He still the Lord over my life, despite what I feel at this moment?

Will we stand firm on the truth He has declared in the Bible, regardless of what emotions we experiencing right now?

We are called to seek the One who shows us truth and real love. We can be as close to God as we want to be in a sense. And God gives us the freedom to choose to pursue Him. Not based on our feelings in a moment but rather solely on our love and devotion.

May we not be found asleep but awaken to the light of His love. For He has not left us as orphans, the Spirit of God is alive and active.

And He is coming back. So let us be found seeking our God with all of our hearts, souls, mind, and strength.  It is then we will realize that we will be filled.

Keep going.
