Can You See it Yet?

Can You See it Yet?

Then Moses went back to the Lord and protested, “Why have you brought all this trouble on your own people, Lord? Why did you send me?” And God said to Moses, “I am Yahweh—’the Lord.’

Exodus 5:22; 6:2 NLT

Moses had been instructed to return to Egypt. God had revealed to him that the cries of the Israelites were heard, and He would deliver them (Ex. 3:7-8). Despite Moses’ initial hesitations, he obeyed God and went with his brother Aaron to see Pharaoh.

Moses probably expected a far different outcome from his first conversation with Pharaoh. Not only did Pharaoh show no reverence for God, but he also demonstrated an even harsher attitude toward the Hebrew people.

Pharaoh withdrew the provision of wheat for the Israelites but still expected them to accomplish the same amount of labour. It added a great deal of extra work to an already taxed people, as the slaves were now expected to gather their own straw while maintaining their daily workload (Ex. 5:10-13).

Moses spoke again to the Lord and uttered his protest (Ex. 5:22). God reminded Moses that He had made a covenant with His people long ago (Ex. 6:5). He heard their tears and would redeem them (Ex. 6:8). Most importantly, God reminded Moses that He was Lord (Ex. 6:8). His power had not diminished with Pharaoh’s words.

Sometimes, walking in obedience to the Lord does not mean things will happen quickly. It may even look completely different than what we had expected.

You may have experienced this, and it left you feeling discouraged. Maybe even questioning if you heard God correctly.

Rest assured, God hears your prayers, and He is still Lord. God faithfully guides His children as He sees the complete picture. Pour out your heart to your Heavenly Father and remember who holds your life in His hands.

God bless!
