The Anchor of the Soul

The Anchor of the Soul

“We have this as a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul, a hope that enters into the inner place behind the curtain” (Hebrews 6:19)

It only takes a short time of absorbing the news to recognize that the world is in turmoil. There seems to be a never-ending list of wars, natural disasters, and tragic events. Our accessibility to global events is far easier than at any other point in history.

While there is wisdom in staying up to date on current events, it can produce waves of uneasiness in the soul. The remedy is not to retreat into hiding but to put down our anchor.

The Bible talks about how Jesus is our anchor for the soul. He is the One who stabilizes us amid life’s uncertainties. Jesus is the only true security in a world that resembles the enormous waves of the ocean.

But how do we put down our anchor? What does this look like in practice.

By investing in our relationship with Christ, we align ourselves to stability rather than being tossed by the waters. This includes praying, listening to Him through His word, and spending time with other believers. It helps us to discern what is true, and can bring peace to our anxious hearts.

Looking to Jesus as our anchor is necessary to combat life’s storms. For He is the source of our hope.

God bless!
